For legal professionals
Co-sign Web3 legal opinions. Keep your client, your diligence, and your standards.
You already write opinions for crypto clients on this corridor. LEXI makes the opinion verifiable and your track record portable, without changing who your client is or whose judgment controls. Here is the whole arrangement, liabilities first.
1. What exactly you are signing
A legal opinion, in your name, on a question you scoped. The engine's output reaches you as input material: a checklist, a document review, a risk read. It is work product, and it is labelled that way. You review it, run your own diligence, and co-sign only what your own judgment supports. No opinion exists until you sign it, and a credential can only mint against your own signature. Signing keys never leave you.
2. Who your client is
Your firm's client is the protocol, exactly as it would be without LEXI. Collaboration runs on an engagement, a workspace tied to one protocol, one firm and one jurisdiction. Your firm assigns the signatory: the qualified individual authorized to co-sign. The protocol retains your firm directly and pays your retainer outside LEXI. LEXI takes no share of your fee, and you take no share of LEXI's. The economics of your practice do not route through a token.
3. What your exposure looks like
Tighter than an opinion letter you would write today, by design:
- Scope is hashed. The credential binds the precise question covered and what is excluded. Nobody can quietly stretch what you opined on.
- Reliers are named. Reliance attaches only after a named relier accepts the reliance terms, and every reliance is recorded. By default you whitelist who may rely (Selective mode). Open reliance, if you ever choose it, requires a defined liability cap in the terms before it is offered.
- It is dated and it expires. Your opinion speaks as of its date, and its on-chain status (Live, Expired, Revoked) is public. No one relies on a stale opinion by accident.
4. The stake, and what can and cannot slash it
To be eligible to co-sign, professionals post a stake of about $5,000, USD-pegged, in $LEXI. It is a good-faith bond, and it becomes operative when the token launches. The rules around it are deliberately narrow:
- Slashing requires proven misconduct, adjudicated by a committee. A relier who dislikes your conclusion cannot touch your stake; reliers flag disputes, they do not decide them.
- Slashing is capped in basis points, up to a hard cap. It is not all-or-nothing.
- Unstaking has a 14-day unbonding period. Falling below the minimum after a slash deactivates eligibility rather than compounding penalties.
- There is no on-chain "risk score" attached to you or your opinions. Your public record is what you signed and its status, nothing else.
5. What you get
- Deal flow on a corridor you already serve. Protocols arrive with documentation already structured and a first pass already run, so your hours go into judgment, not collation.
- A portable, on-chain track record. Every credential you co-sign is a dated, public artifact of practice. That record follows you, not a directory listing.
- A voice in governance. Staked professionals participate in governing jurisdiction expansion, fee parameters and slashing conditions.
6. The open items, stated plainly
Two questions deserve a direct conversation rather than marketing copy: how co-signing interacts with your professional indemnity cover, and how your bar or licensing body treats participation. The answers differ by jurisdiction, and we would rather work through your specifics than publish a blanket assurance. Raise them in your application and we will address them before you commit anything.
7. The founding panel, and what happens after you apply
We are onboarding a small founding panel of licensed professionals before V0, VARA-first. The process:
- Application. Name, jurisdictions of licensure, registration reference, one line on your practice.
- Licensure and conflicts check. Manual and human, in V0.
- Panel onboarding. Terms in writing, engagement walkthrough, and the credential schema before it is final. Founding professionals set the standard the panel is held to.
